A hearth beneath the roof hole.
Pine logs. Kindling. Flint, pyrite.

A water trough. Wooden bowls.
Sheepskin rugs, yellowed with age.

An assortment of snail shells—
pink, yellow, polished, threaded.

Lingonberries, cloudberries,
wood strawberries, blueberries.

A tub of purple flowers—
wolfsbane, willowherb, harebell.

Such soft, ephemeral things
to gird a troll's low spirits.
