Fealty
Trained to his will,
dark-hooded and jessed,
the falcon that gripped
King Arthur's gloved fist.
Harder to hold
the two by his side:
his brother-in-arms,
his soft-spoken bride.
Loosed from his hand,
the falcon took wing,
flew to her quarry,
returned to the king.
Loosed from his sight,
the two by his side
flew to each other
and broke his heart wide.
