Twins

At some point,
within the womb,
he was divided,
came out as two entities.

Four arms
four hands,
four legs
four feet
in total—
he was called twins
at first
and later Matthew and James.

His mind kept up the pretense
but his heart couldn’t help itself.
It beat in two places at the same time.
It even fell for two different women.
A ménage à trois
but who’s counting.
