Bookfest
I probably don't mention it enough, but Pittsburgh is a stellar town for reading, writing, publishing. Yesterday I took a quick bike ride and landed squarely in the Pittsburgh Book Festival. A bunch of my friends and Uppagus contributors were reading, listening, and selling the fruits of their labor.
It reminded me that a huge portion of my to-read/recently-read book list is made up of authors I have personally met. Here's a small sample, many of which I just picked up this weekend:
- Skydog by Jan Beatty
- Letters to My Younger Self by Shaheen Dil*
- Missing You, Metropolis by Gary Jackson
- Every Hard Sweetness by Sheila Carter Jones*
- Ghost Friends – in Praise of Jean Valentine by Gail Langstroth
- Jubal Rising by Michael Simms
- The Red Glass Cat by Matt Ussia
- Cleburne by Michael Wurster*
*Read and recommended
It's good to live here. If you are an Uppagus contributor coming through Pittsburgh, please let me know and we'll see if we can make a reading happen!
